Installing side steps on your Ford Ranger might seem like a complex job, but it's actually quite simple. You'll only require a few basic tools and hardware, which should be included if you buy the side steps new. The process involves attaching a bracket to the underside of your truck's frame and then securing the arms of the side steps into it. It's advisable to use sturdy hardware to avoid any issues like the steps bending or becoming loose, especially when driving at high speeds. Fortunately, there's a comprehensive tutorial on YouTube that can guide you through the process, whether you're a seasoned professional or a beginner in bodywork. With the help of the tutorial, you should be able to get your side steps installed and functional in just a matter of hours.

Engage the parking brake, wear safety glasses, and attach wheel shocks to the left front and left rear wheels. Lift the right front of the car with a jack and secure a jack stand nearby. Repeat this process for the right rear side. Unbox the running boards and position the right one under the vehicle near the right side doors. Utilize a creeper if you have one, to raise the running board to the frame. Install the rest of the holding bolts and nuts, then securely tighten them. Lift the right side of the car off the jack stands and lower it back down to the ground.
