To swap out the oil pump in a Ford Ranger, start by removing the container below the vehicle, positioned beneath the oil plug on the passenger side of the oil pan. Then, take out the drain plug and the oil filter to access the oil pump location. The pump is secured to the engine with four bolts. Disconnect the negative battery cable before removing the pump. Fill the pump tube with fresh oil and install the new pump. Reassemble all parts and components before testing the replacement by taking it for a drive.
