I have a 2002 Ford Explorer, and recently when it transitions from first gear to second gear, it hesitates and the overdrive light flashes on my dashboard. This issue just started about three days ago. What could be causing this problem?

If your 2002 Ford Explorer is experiencing gearbox issues, also known as transmission problems, you may encounter various symptoms. This may include slipping or jolting gears during shifting, delayed or premature gear shifts, and abnormal sounds when the gears engage. Additionally, you might hear a grinding noise from under the hood, which indicates the gears rubbing together. If you notice transmission fluid leaking under the car after it has been parked, there could be a line leak issue. In severe cases, the transmission may fail completely, rendering the car undriveable. The OD light, or overdrive light, signifies that the vehicle is operating at lower RPMs to reduce wear and tear, typically used for highway driving at high speeds. It's important to make sure the overdrive feature is not engaged during normal driving situations.
