In a Toyota RAV4, you can activate or deactivate the ECO mode by pressing the ECO button on the center console controls, positioned to the left of the driver's seat heating button. To confirm that the ECO mode is turned off, check the instrument cluster for the illuminated green "ECO MODE" light when the mode is active. The ECO mode enhances fuel efficiency by reducing power to various vehicle systems such as the engine, HVAC, and heated seats. It also prompts the transmission to shift to a higher gear sooner, maintaining lower engine RPM. This feature is especially beneficial for long highway drives and can help achieve an estimated 38 miles per gallon.
