The 2006 Mazda3 originally came with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, but there was an option to upgrade to a 2.3L 4-cylinder engine. Both models require 4.5 US quarts of synthetic 5W-20 motor oil, including the filter, and need an oil change every 7,500 miles. If you decide to do the oil change yourself, you can anticipate spending anywhere from $20 to $35 on oil. Taking your car to a shop for the oil change should cost you no more than $125.

The 2006 Mazda 3 with either the base 2.0L inline-4 engine or the 2.3L inline-4 engine needs 4.5 quarts of oil. Mazda suggests using 5W20 synthetic oil for best performance.
