The Ford Ranger doesn't have a cabin air filter. Instead, it has a mesh in the engine compartment that shields the HVAC system. This mesh filter is more convenient than a traditional paper filter because it doesn't require replacement. However, it doesn't trap as many dust and allergens as a paper filter because of its wider mesh. The primary purpose of the mesh is to safeguard your vehicle's AC system rather than purify the cabin air. It's recommended to inspect the mesh filter each time you change the oil to ensure it's clear of debris buildup.

If there isn't a mesh in place, where exactly is the mesh you mentioned located? I've noticed a thin, fragile black carbon screen behind the glove box, but it doesn't seem to be blocking anything effectively. Is there a way to either replace or clean it?

I've discovered that the 1995 Ford Ranger does not have a cabin filter but instead has a built-in mesh that supposedly doesn't need to be replaced. This seems to be the only information available for the 1995 model year.

I recently replaced the cabin air filter in my 2021 Ranger, which has been in service for 14 months and has 37,000 miles on it. I used an ECOGARD filter with the part number XC35518C that I bought on Amazon. The whole process took less than 5 minutes and didn't require any tools.

You guys need to do some checking. Head over to your go-to car parts shop and ask about a cabin filter for a 2020-2022 Ford Ranger, and they'll have one in stock. To be precise, look for a Wix WP10410 or a Motorcraft FP88.

Open the glove compartment, release the side clips to remove it. There is a rectangular panel in the center of the air system; squeeze the clips and pull it forward. The air filter is located behind this cover, so you can remove and replace it as needed.
