To troubleshoot an inoperative backup camera on your car, first, ensure that the connection between the camera and the display screen is intact and that the power wire is functioning properly. It's possible that the camera may have been damaged by debris on the road. However, a more common issue could be a blown fuse, which is a simple fix. Locate the fuse box to the left of the steering wheel by checking for a small seam or crack on the dashboard. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open it. Inside, you'll find a collection of fuses, and there should be a diagram on the back of the panel that explains what each fuse is for. If not, you can refer to the owner's manual. Identify the fuse that needs replacement and remove it. Check if the thin metal strip connecting the two raised sections is intact; if broken, the fuse is faulty, and you'll need to replace it. If the strip is intact, the fuse is still good, and you can reinstall it. Replacement fuses are typically inexpensive, costing around $10.
