A faulty speedometer in the Hyundai i10 typically results from a malfunctioning VSS or damaged vehicle speed sensors. Newer vehicles come with speed sensors connected to the transmission that track speed and transmit data to the speedometer, ECU, and instrument panel. These sensors can deteriorate over time and might need to be replaced. If the VSS fails, the speedometer will show a speed of "0." However, the problem could also stem from a defective ECU (engine control unit), requiring either ECU replacement or repairs to the wiring inside it. Issues with the wiring connected to the VSS may also cause problems with the instrument gauges, possibly due to moisture exposure or driving through deep water.
A faulty gear is the reason why the speedometer isn't functioning properly in the Hyundai i10.
