Apple CarPlay was not an available feature when the 2014 Kia Optima was launched, and missed out on being eligible for Kia's free software update by just one model year. This update was specifically for certain cars equipped with the UVO3 Audio system and compatible navigation systems. However, there are aftermarket radios that come with CarPlay already integrated, providing similar functionality to the factory units. Additionally, USB dongles are available to connect your Apple device to the car's audio system. These aftermarket radios are priced between $250 and $450, offering greater reliability when connected to phones compared to the dongles, which typically cost around $40 each.
Kia is providing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as complimentary software upgrades to drivers of specific 2014-2017 models that have the UVO3 infotainment system or compatible navigation systems installed.
