The 2018 Ford Edge can be towed flat except when it has a 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine and automatic transmission. In that case, it must be towed using a dolly or with all four wheels on a raised flatbed truck. Various factors determine if a vehicle is suitable for recreational flat towing behind an RV. Many automatic transmissions can be seriously harmed if the manufacturer hasn't included a "transmission disconnect" feature. Because of the EcoBoost's engine and transmission design, towing it with all four wheels on the ground for a long time can lead to manual transmission operation without lubrication.
