The Ford EcoSport made in 2018 and later is not meant to be flat towed according to its owner's manual. While some vehicles with certain transmissions or four-wheel drive with a transfer case can be flat towed, it is generally advised not to flat tow front-wheel drive vehicles like the EcoSport. Doing so could lead to severe engine or transmission damage due to how these components interact. The manual states that if flat towing is necessary for a short distance, the speed should not exceed 12 miles per hour and the front wheels should not be on the ground.
