The BMW X3 comes with a remote start feature as detailed by the manufacturer. Since the vehicle still uses a key to start the ignition, the push-button start is not functional when inside the car. The first step is to ensure that the remote start feature is activated in the iDrive system. There are two methods to remotely start your car: through the app or using the key fob. The app offers the longest range for starting the engine. To use the remote start with the key fob, press and release the lock button three times. The car must be locked, and the trunk closed to remotely start the engine. To turn off the engine remotely, simply follow the same steps by pressing the lock button three times again.

The BMW X3 lacks the option for remote start functionality.

I have a 2016 X3, and it does NOT come with remote start. Additionally, there's no key needed to turn it on since it has push-button ignition. The app does let you "ventilate" the car, but it does NOT actually "start the engine.

I came across a BMW blog that mentioned the possibility of purchasing the software installation through the iDrive website. However, my dealer informed me that this feature isn't available on the pre-LCI version of the X3.
