The 2018 Dodge Ram is equipped with a feature called MDS, which stands for multi displacement system. This system deactivates selected cylinders while driving at highway speeds to enhance fuel efficiency. The purpose of deactivating cylinders is to reduce the output power needed to maintain speed on the highway. MDS comes standard only on the 5.7L V8 engine; if you opt for a different engine, you won't have cylinder deactivation capabilities.
