The GMC Terrain is equipped with all-wheel drive for optimal performance. Precise steering is crucial for safe lane changes and navigating the road. However, there are potential issues you may encounter, such as leaks in the steering fluid and the vehicle pulling to one side. Additionally, the steering wheel could become unresponsive or the strut bearings may deteriorate. Faulty rack mounts or a loose steering pump could also pose problems for your car. It is recommended to replace the power steering fluid every 75,000 miles. Be attentive to any unusual noises coming from the steering components, as a faulty bearing can produce a disturbing sound, while a loose bearing can create an irritating noise.

The 2018 GMC Terrain does not have 4WD as an option, but instead, it is available with AWD and front-wheel drive. The base model SL includes front-wheel drive. The SLE, SLT, SLE Diesel, SLT Diesel, and Denali versions can be bought with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD).
