This Mitsubishi Outlander has a timing chain that is built to last for the entire lifespan of the vehicle, so under normal circumstances you shouldn't have to worry about it. However, it is still possible for the timing chain to get damaged or fail, in which case your car may suddenly overheat. If you do need to replace it, you can expect to pay around $100 for the new part and another $100 for labor. When shopping for a replacement online, make sure to distinguish between a timing chain and a timing belt, as some sellers may mistakenly label both as a cam belt. Using a timing belt instead of a timing chain will not work and could leave you with a useless part.

How about a 2013 Outlander GX3 with a 2.2 diesel engine and manual transmission? It has 111,000 miles on it, and I can't find any information in the service records about whether the timing belt has been changed or needs to be. Can you provide some assistance?
