In the 2001 Ford Expedition, a cabin air filter was not included as a standard feature. However, some dealers offered it as an optional upgrade for an extra cost. To install a filter, you need to locate a space beneath the passenger side dash where it can be placed after cutting it. By removing a black trim cover below the glovebox secured with three screws, you can access the HVAC housing. Use either a 7mm socket or a T-20 TorxBit to remove the screws. If a filter was already installed, it will have a cover plate with tabs holding it in place. Alternatively, if one was not installed, you can purchase a kit and install it yourself by cutting a hole in the housing.
