I understand that this post is from a while ago, but I recently had the same issue while changing the filter in my 2013 Chevy Suburban. Surprisingly, my vehicle did not come with a factory cabin air filter, even though there is a designated spot for it beneath the passenger side dash. Instead of finding a filter door in that location, it was completely sealed shut. I had to purchase a Retrofit Kit for the Cabin Air Filter Door and modify the plastic to create an opening for the door to be installed.
