The Chevy Cruze will continue to feature a nine-speed automatic transmission as standard for its base model with a 1.4 liter four-cylinder engine, rather than a CVT engine. However, General Motors (GM) has decided to offer the CVT transmission exclusively for fleet buyers. The switch to the continuously variable transmission was aimed at improving fuel efficiency and achieving better gas mileage for the cars equipped with it. Despite being known for its fuel efficiency and high ratings, the Chevy Cruze opted not to incorporate the CVT transmission due to reported issues and skepticism surrounding its performance.
