The 2014 Subaru Outback features a backup camera on certain trim models. If the camera is not functioning, the first step is to inspect the fuse. Locate the fuse box to the left of the steering wheel by searching for a small seam or crack on the dashboard. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open the panel. Inside, you will see multiple fuses. Check the back of the panel for a diagram indicating the purpose of each fuse. If the diagram is not there, it can also be found in the vehicle's owner's manual. Once you identify the necessary fuse, remove it. Look for a thin strip of metal connecting the two raised sections of the fuse. If this strip is broken, the fuse is defective and should be replaced. If the strip is intact, the fuse is fine to reinsert. Replacement fuses typically cost around $10, making them affordable.
