There's a current recall on the 2013 Ford Escape for its water pump, which has a tendency to malfunction and lead to leaks. These leaks might result in hot coolant dripping onto other hot parts of the vehicle, potentially raising the chances of a fire. Auto manufacturers issue recalls when they identify a significant number of component failures, which is the case with the Escape's engine here. To check if your SUV is affected by the recall, reach out to a Ford dealership with your VIN number. If your vehicle is part of the recall, you can take it to the dealership and have the water pump replaced at no cost.

Where did you find out about this recall? I contacted the Ford Dealer today, and they informed me that Ford has issued a TSB. They have not included this as a warranty repair yet, up to March 30th, 2024, for the 1.6 Eco Boost. Ford says it could be covered later if they decide to do so.
