The 2010 Chevy Malibu no longer includes an exhaust gas recirculation valve, which was a feature found in older models of the car. Instead, the newer models utilize variable valve timing systems, rendering the egr valve unnecessary. This change has been implemented since the 2007 models.

The 2010 Chevy Malibu no longer incorporates an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve, which has been removed from the newer Chevrolet models. In place of the EGR system, Chevrolet has implemented Variable Valve Timing technology in the contemporary era. Both the 2.4L and 3.6L engines of the 2010 Malibu now utilize VVT systems, which are more effective at managing nitrous oxide emissions and have led to the obsolescence of EGR valves in these vehicles.

The 2009 Malibu may come with an EGR system depending on the emission package it has. It is also possible for the 2010 model to have EGR. The 2008-2012 Malibus were largely similar in basic features.
