According to Honda, the oil dilution issue that has stirred much discussion has been addressed in the 2019 Honda CR-V. While a few complaints have surfaced regarding this problem with the 2019 model, it pales in comparison to the occurrences seen in the 2017 and 2018 models. In the past, the oil dilution problem arose when fuel sprayed by direct injection ended up in the cylinder. While most of the fuel is expected to evaporate during engine operation, some could accumulate on the cylinder wall, flow down to the crankcase, and mix with the oil in the pan, leading to oil dilution. This issue was more common in colder climates but was reportedly remedied in the older models through a software update.

I bought a 2019 CR-V in December of that same year and experienced issues with oil dilution.

I bought a 2019 car in July 2019 and I just found out about this problem. It's still occurring even after they claimed to have repaired it. I'm really let down. We'll see how it goes.

In 2019, my vehicle experienced the same problem too. The oil level is elevated by 1 inch on the dipstick. Even extended journeys do not help reduce it. If all CRVs begin emitting blue smoke, Honda may need to rethink their signature blue theme.

I own a 2019 CRV. The oil level is slightly above the orange mark on the dipstick. The issue has not been resolved.

It is ridiculous to claim that oil dilution is a normal occurrence in any engine. The mixing of oil and gas should never happen. An additional one-year warranty is insignificant when the engine itself is subpar after eight years. Thinner, foamy oil with a viscosity rating of 0W-20 will not provide adequate protection for a 1.5-liter high RPM engine. With increased mileage, these engines are prone to failure. In my own experience with a 2017 vehicle, I noticed a higher oil level and a strong gasoline smell in the oil just three weeks after an oil change. Carbon build-up on the valves is a separate and serious issue, according to experienced mechanics. Who will assist us after driving for a decade? The value diminishes when these problems arise.

I own a 2019 CRV that still has unresolved issues. I might have to trade it in once it reaches 30,000 to 50,000 miles just to recoup some of my money. Honda should feel embarrassed – this is the third and final Honda I will ever purchase.

Honda recently found out that their 1.5L turbo inline-4 Earth Dreams engine was experiencing oil dilution problems in cold temperatures. But there's no need to worry because Honda has sent out service notices for the older CR-V models equipped with this engine and has addressed the issue at the factory for the 2019 version. So, the 2019 model shouldn't have any oil dilution concerns, but if you own an older CR-V, it's advisable to take it to a dealership for a check-up.

Honda has not yet issued any service notices or recalls regarding the oil dilution problems with their vehicles. However, they have mentioned that they will address this issue only when their engines begin to fail, potentially resulting in fatalities. As of March 2020, they are offering an extended warranty for affected models.

I recently got my 2019 Civic's oil analyzed by Blackstone Laboratories, and they found that there was 3.8% fuel in the oil at 2,500 miles. They also discovered that the oil filter was clogged and needed to be changed at the same mileage.

Why is it that whenever you bring your car in for routine oil changes, the customer isn't informed of anything amiss? But when you do mention it and they investigate, nothing seems wrong. However, upon checking it myself, the oil level is nearly an inch above the maximum mark and has a noticeable gas odor.

Do we know if anyone has initiated a class action lawsuit for the oil dilution issue affecting the 2021 Honda CR-V, considering many of our customers are experiencing the same problem with their Hondas?

In addition to cold weather issues, they face difficulties. I intended to purchase this vehicle from a friend. The oil was last changed 1,500 miles ago, and the smell of gas can already be detected through the oil check opening. It's currently summertime. I believe the interior of Honda cars is of low quality, and the paint job is subpar; after just two years, it's covered in scratches. While they used to be known for their reliability, I am now uncertain about how long the engine will hold up with this gas leaking into the oil. I have never owned a Honda before and have no plans to do so now.
