The Ford Focus doesn't experience more immobilizer issues than other vehicles, but there have been instances where the alarm system has malfunctioned. In such cases, it can prevent the engine from starting to deter theft. If your immobilizer is stuck, you may have to reset the anti-theft system using the original key. Turn the car on, wait for the antitheft light to go off, then repeat before starting the vehicle. If you face frequent alarm problems with your Focus, it's advisable to have a Ford dealership check the computer and replace it if necessary.

If your Ford Focus doesn't detect your key, you'll see the immobilizer light blinking, and the car won't turn on. To fix this, turn the key to the second position four times, then activate the start mode to reset the immobilizer.

I'm dealing with an issue right now. I've noticed that whenever it rains heavily, my 2008 Focus cc2 won't start even though the car has power. The immobilizer light blinks, and when I turn the key to the second position, I see an "Engine Malfunction" message. Last time, I left it for a few days, and it started working again, but the heavy rain last night has caused the problem to resurface.

It might be one of two possibilities: a cluster issue or a blown fuse. Usually, the fuse box located near the engine is the culprit, but to confirm, it's best to contact AAA for a thorough check.
