Over time, there have been various complaints about the Ford Transit's transmission. With proper maintenance and fluid changes, the transmission should function well for many years. However, there have been instances of faulty parts leading to issues. Warning signs of transmission problems include delays in shifting gears, grinding noises or engine vibrations, sudden shaking while driving, and unusual smells or noises from the hood. If the transmission fails, it will require replacement, which can cost between $574 and $3372.

We oversee a group of 15 Transit Connect vehicles. Over the last two years, five of them have required complete transmission replacements. The transmission alone costs around $4000 to $5800, with an additional labor cost of approximately $1800. Because these vehicles are part of a fleet program, there are no warranties available. It's best to avoid these vehicles, as they all have mileage under 100,000.

I can confirm that there have been issues with the transmissions in the 2020 FORD Transit High-Top vans. Five employees at my company got new vans in March. I recently got my van back from the dealer, and they installed a new transmission under warranty. It's worth noting that the van only had 9700 miles on it when the transmission failed. I'm the third person out of the five to have received a new transmission.

The issues with the Ford Transit transmission include transmission failure, improper shifting, and an intermittent signal from the OSS sensor.

In 2019, my Transit Connect had its entire transmission replaced at 80,000 miles. I was considering getting a new one, but I'm relieved I didn't go through with it.

Trash. The T150-250 trucks are slow and lack power, making them struggle to move efficiently... The 10-speed transmission has poor control, frequently shifting back and forth between gears unpredictably, leading to jerky and inconsistent movement... It also fails to respond promptly when attempting to speed up while searching for the right gear. These problematic vehicles should have stayed in Europe.

I own a 2019 350HD with 38,000 miles on it, and the transmission started leaking fluid from the breather. I purchased a new radiator, transmission cooler, and flush from Autonation Ford for $1750 just after the warranty expired. They claimed that Ford had used a red coolant in those years that could cause clogging in both units, but I was skeptical. Despite their guarantee, the transmission leaked fluid again during a trip from Georgia to New York, with the back doors of my van getting covered in transmission fluid 400 miles into the journey. Upon reaching New York, no Ford dealer was willing to inspect it due to being too busy. On the drive back to Georgia, the transmission service light came on after 500 miles, coating the back doors in fluid again, only for the light to turn off after 10 seconds. Frustrated with Autonation's lack of response after two weeks, I demanded my van back and planned to seek assistance from a different dealer with Ford Protect support.

Here's a paraphrased and unique version:

I own a 2018 T250 that is on its third transmission repair. The first time was a rebuild, the second was due to a faulty internal cooler, and this latest issue occurred 200 miles away from home with a complete transmission failure. Unfortunately, the local shops are fully booked for the next 2-3 weeks, and the cost of towing it back home is estimated at $1500. It was disheartening that when calling around for a repair shop near where it broke down, the first question asked by the service department was whether the issue was transmission-related.

My Ford Transit 3500 started making a strange noise at 25mph. Despite having only 49,000 miles, it needs a brand new transmission. I suspect that the issue may have been related to the recalled drive shaft. Attempting to get it serviced in Los Angeles is a nightmare, with a month-long wait just for service. Dealing with Ford service is frustrating; their customer service is lacking efficiency and care. Bringing my car or truck in for repairs feels like dealing with the DMV - the same indifferent attitude and poor customer service across all locations in Los Angeles - Sunrise, Gaplin, Star Ford. I've owned five Fords, but it's not worth it if they can't provide basic service in their repair departments. Shame on you!

As an American, I own a Ford Transit 350 and the transmission failed at 49,000 miles. Out of the 4 dealerships in Los Angeles, none of them had the time or availability to repair it. One dealer said they weren't taking appointments, while another said I would have to wait a month before they could even take a look at it. I used to be a loyal Ford fan, but if their transmissions are so unreliable that I can't even get them serviced, why would I consider buying another Ford?

Do not buy a Ford - it's junk. Instead, go for a Mercedes Sprinter for $450k, no problems. Stay classy!
