The relationship between the Ford Transit Connect and its brake pads and ABS braking systems can be complex and sometimes challenging. As a work van, the Transit has become a popular choice over traditional trucks because it is lighter and easier to maintain. However, in 2011, there was a recall (#11-7-14) involving the Electronic Brake Distribution software due to issues with factory calibrations not working properly with the van's new non-asbestos organic (NAO) pads. This led to premature wear on both front and rear brakes and shoes, as well as disabled EBD and increased wear on the ABS braking functions of the Connect.

The brakes on my car are so harsh. I've gone through six sets in 60,000 miles, with the passenger rear inside pad always wearing out quickly. I've replaced the caliper twice, the ABS sensor, and the rotors, but I still only get 3 to 5 thousand miles before needing a new set. It's frustrating because no one can figure out what's causing this issue.

The issue with the rear brakes on the Ford Transit is that they can be unreliable and may fail to function properly at times.
