The Ford F-150 transfer case could run into problems such as difficulty shifting gears and grinding noises. It is recommended to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles to prevent issues. In addition to regular fluid changes, a malfunctioning transmission may produce unsettling noises. Over time, the old transmission fluid can become unpleasant to the ear. An aging torque converter can also lead to complications, as the transmission plays a vital role in the vehicle's functionality. Symptoms like delayed gear shifts, acceleration troubles, slipping transmission, shuddering, harsh shifting, jerking, and gear sticking may indicate transmission issues. Any transmission fluid leaks should be addressed promptly to avoid further complications.

I've been having an increasingly difficult time putting the transfer case in neutral for towing my wheels behind the motorhome. At first, it was no problem, but then I had to repeat the steps several times. On my last attempt, it took 14 tries before I finally got the message, "Neutral Tow Enabled." Once successful, I hit the road. However, when I arrived at my destination, I discovered that both the transmission and transfer case were ruined. I'm unsure if I received a false indication that the transfer case was in neutral or if it slipped out of neutral. I'm wondering if this is a common issue or if I just ended up with a faulty vehicle. Unfortunately, Ford claims that I didn't put the transfer case in neutral, so there's no warranty coverage despite the vehicle only having 4,700 miles on it.

The issues with the transfer case in the Ford F-150 involve difficulty in shifting gears and the failure of the four-wheel drive functionality.
