Ford developed the Ecoboost engine to deliver both power and torque while cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing fuel efficiency. This was achieved by leveraging direct injection fuel technology to boost a smaller engine's performance, matching the output of larger engines. Unfortunately, Ford had to recall over 230,000 1.6 liter Ecoboost vehicles from 2013 to 2015 because of oil leaks stemming from faulty head gaskets, posing fire and overheating risks for owners. The subsequent recall of the 1.0 liter version tarnished the engine's reputation, leading to concerns about the fate of the newly introduced 1.5 liter model. The silver lining for 1.5 Ecoboost owners is that, serving as the successor to the 1.6 liter engine, the redesign has proven successful, with official reviewers reporting minimal issues with this updated design.

My 2015 Ford Fusion 1.5 is having issues with the coolant. I need to replace the engine immediately because the coolant has leaked into the cylinder head.

In 2015, there was an issue with coolant leaking from the engine, which was replaced under warranty just in time. It cost 10,000 euros for the repair, so it's safe to say there were definitely some problems with that engine.

The motor is in bad shape.

These aren't dependable at all. The cylinder walls are flimsy and prone to cracking or causing the head gasket to fail slowly. This leads to coolant leaking into the cylinder and the engine starting to seep. As a result, the engine will start running rough and eventually stop altogether. The only solution is to get the engine replaced. I was just given an estimate of $7,400 to replace the engine in my 2017 Fusion. It's such a widespread issue that they keep engines and parts in stock for replacements!

the 1.5-liter engine is completely unreliable. The cylinder walls collapsed, leading to a coolant leak into the engine, which ultimately required a full engine replacement at 104,000 miles.

Similar to the 1.6-liter engine, the 1.5-liter engine faces the same issues. It seems that Ford struggles to produce a reliable engine. My engine failed at 108,000 miles. It's surprising how Ford could manufacture such a poor engine consistently from 2013 to 2019.

My 2014 Ford Fusion with a 1.5 ecoboost engine stopped working because there was a coolant leak inside the cylinder.

The Ford Fusion's 1.5 Ecoboost engine is known for its dependability, with minimal issues noted, particularly in contrast to the 1.6 Ecoboost setup. Unlike its 1.6 counterpart, the Ford 1.5 doesn't encounter cooling system problems and is not prone to overheating.
