The 2011 GMC Terrain is designed to have Bluetooth capability, which you can activate and pair with your device for hands-free use. To connect with GMC's Intellink, simply press the Push To Talk button on the infotainment screen and speak the command "Bluetooth." The system will respond to confirm it's ready. Then, when prompted with a beep, say "Pair" to begin the pairing process. You will then need to initiate a Bluetooth search on your mobile device to find the GMC Terrain's connection. If you encounter issues with a previously paired phone, try deleting the connection and repeating the steps to reconnect. Note that some drivers have experienced issues with Bluetooth functionality after addressing a computer update recall, receiving a "NOT AVAILABLE" message. To avoid any problems, it's recommended to verify Bluetooth functionality before leaving the dealership if you choose to proceed with the update.

So, if the service is not available, why is there a phone icon on the screen?

Certainly! The 2011 GMC Terrain offers Bluetooth connectivity as a standard feature on the SLE-2, SLT-1, and SLT-2 trims, but it is not included in the base SLE-1 trim option.

My 2011 GMC Terrain SLE 1 is equipped with Bluetooth, but the control buttons are discreetly placed. Located on the lower dash on the right side below the steering wheel, there are three buttons where the dash curves and meets the steering column. This configuration can be a bit challenging, but you can search online for guidance on locating the Bluetooth button for a 2011 GMC Terrain. The owner manuals may not provide instructions for this feature. If you encounter difficulty, it might be helpful to visit the dealership and have them demonstrate the setup, as not all SLE 1 models include this option. My Terrain, which originally served as a demo vehicle at the dealership, came with several SLE 2 features.

The phone is specifically designed for Onstar use. If you sign up for Onstar and opt for the phone plan, Onstar will assign your vehicle a phone number with the amount of minutes you select. If someone calls your number, you can press the phone button to answer, or just say "answer phone" and your Onstar system will respond. When you're done talking, you can say "end call" and Onstar will finish the call for you.
