To change the key fob battery on a Ford Escape, you can do so easily without any tools. You'll need a CR2032 3V battery, which typically costs $5 to $7. Start by locating the switch on the back of the fob and sliding it to the right to release the key. Then, insert the narrow end of the key into the fob's left side notch with the Ford logo facing up to separate the pieces. Once apart, remove the back cover and use the key to pop out the old battery. Insert the new battery, ensuring the positive side is facing downward. Put the fob back together and test it to confirm it works. You may also need to reprogram it.

Here's a more conversational and unique way to perform those steps: Push the release switch on the back of your key fob to slide out the metal ignition key. Make sure the Ford logo is facing forward as you insert the key into the slot on the left. Gently take off the back cover once the key is in place. Swap out the old circular battery with a new one, and then reassemble the key fob.
