If your BMW shows a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) 27C3, it means the "Thermal Oil Sensor" is indicating low oil. If your oil is actually low, topping it off should resolve the issue upon restarting the engine. If the sensor is faulty, you'll need to address that. Typically, if there are no other issues with the car, it's likely a failed sensor. The sensor is positioned to the right of the oil pan and can be accessed from underneath by disconnecting the red insulated wire and removing the filter.

Can you tell me what the code 27c3 on my BMW means?

To the best of my knowledge, I recently replaced the oil, oil filter, oil pressure sensor, and oil level sensor with brand-new genuine parts. After scanning the car, I received an unfamiliar fault code 27C3. Upon further inspection, I found that the oil level was low. In a nutshell, the fault code 27C3 indicates a low oil level, which was resolved after topping it up. Best of luck to everyone troubleshooting similar issues! 🙂
