There can be various reasons for a vehicle having trouble starting, such as a weak battery or a malfunctioning starter. However, when your car struggles to start after sitting idle for just a few hours, it can be particularly puzzling. A frequent culprit in such scenarios is low fuel pressure. The starter, which can be electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic, is essential for turning over a combustion engine to get it running. If the starter's drive gear is worn or not properly engaging, it often results in a grinding noise, similar to the sound made if you mistakenly engage the ignition switch again after the engine has started. Ignoring this grinding noise can also lead to damage to the engine flywheel.

It could be blocked fuel lines. I recall a time when my brother’s old Suzuki wouldn’t start—it would crank but not turn on. Eventually, we discovered that the fuel lines were clogged with dirt. We disconnected the lines, cleared them out with a clothes hanger, reconnected everything, and the car started immediately.
