The transmission will shift down at any speed between 30 and 85 mph, and if you lock up the rear end at 85 mph, you'll hear some tire noise. After driving 145,000 miles with an abysmal fuel economy of only 14 mpg, I identified the issue of a faulty signal from the drive-by-wire accelerator to the throttle body, despite no error code showing at the dealership. By replacing the $40 accelerator pedal and electronic sensor (a single part), I fixed the acceleration problem. However, due to the engine being worn in this manner, the fuel economy remained at 14 mpg. I now drive my 2001 vehicle with a 4.8LR V8 engine at 21 mpg, having covered 340,000 miles.
