If there are issues with the climate control system in a VW Golf, the possible causes could be a damaged heater core or fan motor, or faulty wires. However, the most common reason for failure is usually a blown fuse. To access the fuse box, look to the left of the steering wheel and locate a small seam or crack along the dashboard. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open this panel. Inside, you will find several fuses. The back of the panel should have a diagram showing the purpose of each fuse; if not, refer to the vehicle's owner's manual. Identify the needed fuse and remove it; a broken strip of metal connecting the two sections indicates a blown fuse that needs replacement. If the strip is intact, the fuse is good and can be reinserted. Replacement fuses are inexpensive, costing around $10.

If your VW Golf is not producing enough heat or air conditioning, or if the air flow through the vents is lower than usual, you might have to swap out the blend door motor or actuator within the car's climate control system.
