Subaru Foresters do not have any specific climate control issues unique to their class, but they may experience common problems that are typical in all vehicles regarding climate control. Frequently, the knobs or buttons used to adjust the climate settings may wear out and need to be replaced. There is also a possibility of the fuse that controls the blowers blowing, which will require a replacement. Other potential issues include the A/C compressor failing, although this is less common than low coolant levels. Refrigerant often leaks over time, so it is likely that you will need an air conditioning recharge to replenish the freon at some point. This recharge usually costs around $155 in labor. If you are up for it, purchasing the freon and refilling it yourself can be an effective cost-saving measure.

The blower motor in the 2020 Forester has been experiencing frequent failures. Our new car had a faulty blower motor from the beginning, but it was replaced under warranty. However, the replaced blower motor is now showing the same issues just six months later. It's barely working now due to the intermittent problem. Even though the car is just under 2 years old and out of warranty, we're being asked to pay for another motor replacement. Considering the original part was faulty and the replacement is failing too, it appears there is a broader issue with the OEM part.
