Kia Motors America (Kia) is issuing a recall for certain 2011-2017 Optima, 2012-2017 Sorento, and 2011-2018 Sportage vehicles that had their engines replaced under recall number 17V-224, warranty, or the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) Product Improvement Campaign. The issue is with the high-pressure fuel pipe connected to the fuel pump outlet, which might have been damaged, misaligned, or incorrectly tightened during the engine replacement process, potentially leading to a fuel leak. This could pose a fire hazard if there's an ignition source nearby. Kia has informed owners, and dealers will check and replace the fuel pipe at no cost if needed. The recall officially started on January 17, 2019. Owners can reach out to Kia customer service for more information.
