The fuel filter in the Mazda3 is integrated into the fuel pump assembly. Often, the fuel pump is located underneath the vehicle, connected to the fuel rail. Accessing the filter is straightforward, as it is secured by a few bolts that are easily removable. The cost of replacing the filter and pump assembly typically ranges from $200 to $800. Sometimes, the filter and pump are inside the gas tank, requiring the replacement of the entire tank to access the pump, but an external opening allows for filter replacement. The prices for this type of repair are similar, possibly slightly higher than just replacing the pump. When the pump starts to fail, you may experience difficulties with acceleration due to insufficient fuel delivery. In severe cases, the car may not start at all.
