The Jaguar XJ8 is renowned for its luxurious ride, and thankfully, it is also highly reliable. While there are no widespread issues with the immobilizer compared to other vehicles, it's possible for the system to occasionally trip. To reset it, follow these steps: Turn the key to the ON position for 10 seconds, then to OFF for another 10 seconds. Repeat this process by turning it ON for 10 seconds and then OFF for an additional 10 seconds. Afterward, attempt to start your XJ8. If the issue persists, you can also try disconnecting the battery for at least 30 minutes, although this method is not as effective as the hard reset.

I suggest trying to reset the inertia button, which can be found near the passenger side of the dashboard by the fuse box. Insert the key into the ignition at position 0, press the button on the top of the small black sensor, switch the ignition to position 1, and wait for 10 seconds before starting the car.

In order to reprogram the immobilizer on the Jaguar XJ8, you must first turn the key to the on position for 10 seconds, followed by the off or lock position for another 10 seconds. Repeat this process, then start the vehicle to complete the reset. Failure to do so may result in the door locks and alarm system malfunctioning.
