A number of 2011 Chevy Traverse owners have encountered a sudden loss of engine power while their vehicle is still under warranty. Typically occurring at high speeds on highways, this issue is often accompanied by a warning message displaying "stabilitrak/service traction control." The affected cars may become restricted to speeds slightly above 25 mph. Upon evaluation at a dealership, the Traverse's OBDII codes point towards a throttle body malfunction. If the vehicle is covered under warranty, most throttle bodies are replaced. The volume of reports on this issue has increased, prompting GM to advise owners to reach out to the company's customer service team with their Traverse's VIN number to begin the process for repair claims at their local dealership, if such repairs have not already been undertaken.

If the stabilitrak system of the 2011 Chevy Traverse malfunctions, also referred to as the electronic stability control module or ESC, it can lead to problems with the speed and ABS sensors. This, in turn, can affect traction control while driving.
