In 2017, the Chevy Spark has been reported to have transmission problems like delayed shifting and slipping. It's recommended to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. Neglecting fluid changes can result in noisy transmission operations. The sound of old transmission fluid can be quite unpleasant. A malfunctioning torque converter can be a major headache. The transmission is a critical component of the vehicle and issues are likely to occur at some point. Delayed shifts can lead to acceleration problems and possible slipping. Shuddering, harsh shifts, and jerking may also be experienced. Gear sticking is another potential problem. If there's a transmission fluid leak, it should be promptly fixed to prevent further complications.

The cruise control suddenly disengaged and the engine light turned on unexpectedly.

In 20167, I experienced issues with my spark/manual transmission. There were difficulties upshifting into 3rd gear and the idiot light has been malfunctioning since I bought it. The local GM dealership claimed they couldn't replicate the problem and made it my issue. Despite a burning smell, GM still couldn't replicate the problem, which eventually led to total transmission failure due to a clutch/transmission issue that GM refused to address. My vehicle is now disabled and GM is unable to fix it, even lacking the necessary tools for repairs unless I'm willing to spend over $1000 on tools alone. They can't provide a loaner car either. It seems like a case for the Lemon Law!

If your 2017 Chevy Spark experiences transmission problems, you may observe issues such as shaking or grinding while you drive, a burning smell when the car is running, gears slipping during shifts, the shifter getting stuck or unresponsive, and fluid leaks. These signs could eventually result in transmission failure, which could render the vehicle inoperable.

I believe the issue lies with the automatic transmission! My car has a manual transmission with 5 speeds and has no issues.

I recently purchased a 2017 Spark and have had no issues accelerating quickly with it. I've noticed that most complaints mentioned online are related to automatic transmissions, but mine has a 5-speed manual shift. With my manual transmission, I can easily reach speeds of 70-75 mph as I merge onto the interstate from an entrance ramp. I recommend giving manual transmission a try.

The transmission must be replaced at 50,000 kilometers as it is not possible to repair.

Have the problems with automatic transmission been fixed for the 2022 model?
