The reason why the windshield wipers on a 2017 Ford Escape are not functioning is because of a defective fuse. To access the fuse box, locate a seam or crack along the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. You can use a screwdriver or prybar to gently open this panel. Inside, you will see several fuses. The back of the panel will have a diagram showing the purpose of each fuse. If the diagram is not there, you can find it in the owner's manual for the vehicle. Identify the faulty fuse by checking for a broken thin strip of metal connecting the two raised sections. If the strip is intact, the fuse is good and can be reinserted. If it is broken, the fuse needs to be replaced. A new fuse will cost around $10, which is an inexpensive fix.
