The reason why the back wiper on a Toyota Highlander may not be working could be due to two factors. One possibility is that the wiper motor is damaged and requires replacement. However, the more common cause is that the motor is not receiving power due to a faulty fuse. To access the fuse box, look to the left of the steering wheel for a small seam or crack on the dashboard. Using a screwdriver or prybar, carefully open this panel. Inside, there will be several fuses. On the back of the panel, there should be a diagram indicating the purpose of each fuse. If the diagram is not there, you can refer to the vehicle's owner's manual. Once you identify the correct fuse, simply remove it. Check if the thin metal strip connecting the two sections of the fuse is intact. If it is broken, the fuse needs to be replaced. If the strip is undamaged, the fuse can be reinserted. Replacement fuses are affordable, typically around $10.

One frequent reason why the back windshield wiper might stop functioning is if the fuse blows out. Ensure there are no objects causing an overload on the motor. If heavy snow accumulates on the wiper blades, or if the wiper blade or arm gets stuck on something or tangled, it can lead to the fuse blowing. Clear any blockages and replace the fuse.
