If your USB port in a Toyota 4Runner isn't providing power, start by testing a different cable to rule out any issues with the cord. Then, check the RAD 20 amp fuse connected to the head unit to ensure it's not blown, as a blown fuse can prevent the USB from functioning. Look for any obstructions or corrosion in the USB slot, as a poor connection can also cause the USB to malfunction. Sometimes, software problems can disrupt communication between the USB and the head unit. To fix this, remove the RAD 20 amp fuse and leave it out for at least 4 hours to reset the unit to its factory settings. If the issue persists, remove the head unit to verify all harness connectors are properly connected to the correct ports.

My 4Runner's port, which I bought in 2018, has never functioned properly. According to Toyota service, the port is okay because it shows charging, but when I plug in and don't use my phone at all with all apps closed, the battery still drains about 2% every 20 minutes. Both ports, out of the two available, exhibit the same issue of not working.

I took out the 20-amp RAD fuse from my 2018 limited 4Runner, which is positioned in the fuse box near the battery. I left it out overnight and then reinstalled it the next morning, and now my USB ports are functioning perfectly. Appreciate the helpful tip!
