The valve cover gasket(s) is a common source of oil leaks near the front of the engine in a Jeep Wrangler. You can tell that the valve cover gasket is no longer sealing properly if you notice oil on the valve cover or detect a burning oil odor while the engine is running. When oil leaks from the valve cover, it can come into contact with the hot exhaust manifold and produce smoke that enters the vehicle's interior. Possible reasons for the leak include a shrunken, cracked, or degraded gasket, a cracked or damaged valve cover, or a loose valve cover bolt.
