If your 2003 Chevy Silverado is not responding well when you press the gas pedal, it might be because of a loose or damaged cable or a blown fuse in the Electronic Throttle Control System. To find the ETC fuse, check under the hood on the driver's side of the engine bay in the Silverado's "power distribution center." A lack of throttle response can lead to a decrease in engine power and might trigger a P1516 error code, usually caused by a problem with the Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS). If the TPS is faulty and needs to be replaced, you may notice the "check engine" light turning on, along with sluggish acceleration and rough idling. Replacing the TPS typically costs between $180 and $250 for parts and labor.
