If the Bluetooth in your Toyota Tacoma isn't working, the initial step to getting it back in order is resetting the Bluetooth by removing all connections and then resetting it by holding down the power button until the Audio system restarts. Bluetooth systems in cars allow drivers to make calls and send texts using voice commands and steering wheel controls without taking their eyes off the road. Bluetooth technology was first introduced in 1999 for the 2000 model year. Until 2004, Chrysler was one of the few manufacturers in North America to provide the option for drivers with their UConnect interface. Nowadays, having Bluetooth capability in a car is nearly essential.

In 2018, when I took my Tacoma to the dealer, the service writer was aware of the problem and suggested a software update for $75. I protested, claiming the issue made the truck defective and that I didn't want a truck with spotty Bluetooth connectivity. However, both the dealer and Toyota were unresponsive to my concerns. Now, I'm searching for a Toyota Technical Service Bulletin related to this issue in hopes of getting a refund for the $75. It's disappointing that they didn't prioritize customer satisfaction, which I would have expected from a Jeep or GM dealership, not Toyota.
