If the stop-start feature in your Kia Sportage is not functioning, there are typically two main reasons for this issue. The first possibility is that the CPU responsible for controlling the system and communicating with the starter is malfunctioning. The more common reason, however, is that the fuse related to the stop-start system has blown. To access the fuse box, locate a small seam or crack to the left of the steering wheel along the dashboard. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open this panel. Inside the fuse box, you will find various fuses. Look for a diagram on the back of the panel that indicates the function of each fuse. If the diagram is not present, consult the vehicle's owner's manual. Identify the faulty fuse and remove it – you can tell if a fuse is blown by checking if the thin metal strip connecting the raised sections is broken. If the strip is intact, the fuse is still functional and can be reinserted. Replacement fuses typically cost around $10 each, making them a cost-effective solution.

I have a 2012 Kia Optima with a 1.7 stop-start feature, and the amber light indicating this function is always illuminated. I have already replaced the battery, but the issue persists. How can I troubleshoot and fix this problem?
