What could be the reason for the Ford F-150's tail lights not functioning properly?

The main cause why tail lights stop working on a Ford F-150 is often a blown fuse. You can locate the fuse box you need in the passenger cabin, below and to the left of the steering column. Take note of the diagram on the box cover and ensure you use a replacement with the same amperage. The next likely issue is a burnt out bulb, which you can check by inspecting the filament after removing the bulb. Another common reason is a faulty relay, which can disrupt the connection between the battery and the taillights due to improper grounding. Lastly, if all else fails, it could be the tail light switch, which requires you to remove the assembly for inspection.

To troubleshoot when the tail lights aren't working but the brake and signal lights are, check fuses 22, 30, and 40 in the passenger cabin fuse box. In my case, fuse 22 was the culprit, although 30 and 40 could also be potential issues. Not many references to fuse 22 were found, but it was the solution for me. This information may be dated, but it could still assist someone in need. Best of luck!

If the tail lights on your Ford F-150 aren't working, it's possible that a fuse has blown.

It seems like there was a problem with the back connection at the trailer hitch. Make sure to thoroughly clean the connections of both pieces, the bolt, and the frame using sandpaper and a wire wheel, or any other method needed to ensure the surfaces are clean. I had to start the ignition multiple times before everything started working properly.

I had a problem with my 2016 F-150. It took me a long time to check all the fuses and connections, but eventually, I discovered the issue. The blue wire at the back of the vehicle's pigtail had become disconnected inside the connector. I had to carefully use a sharp tool to guide it back into place and then crimp it back together. It was a tedious task, but I'm relieved that it's finally resolved.

My brother and I checked all the fuses in the engine compartment and under the glove box on the passenger side, but none of them were blown. A few weeks ago, we inspected the bulbs and wiring connections in the taillights, and everything seemed fine. It wasn't until we looked under the truck bed that we noticed the ground wire was barely attached to the chassis, causing the tail lights and blinker to intermittently stop working. After fixing the ground wire, it seems like everything is back to normal with my 2020 F150.

I had a similar issue with my 2014 F-150, but after trying a few different things, I was able to fix it by switching out the Sylvania bulbs for genuine Ford ones.

Same discovered that both the trailer lights and all rear lights on the truck were not functioning. The bolt for the passenger side trailer lighting is located inside the frame, while for the driver's side it is located outside the frame. No error code or fault is displayed on the dashboard until a trailer is connected, at which point it shows a message to check the brake module.

I encountered similar problems and discovered that the issue was with fuse number 68 in the engine compartment, as well as fuse number 22 located under the passenger side dashboard panel.

My pickup truck is equipped with LED tail lights. After transferring them to my other truck, the new lights remain non-functional. I have not had the chance to get them repaired yet, and there is no light coming from that side at all.

I had an ongoing problem that I tried to troubleshoot for some time. Eventually, I discovered that the issue was caused by a faulty taillight bulb socket.
