What could be the reason for the malfunction of the backup camera on my GMC Acadia?

The top reason a backup camera might not work in a GMC Acadia is a blown fuse. Swapping out the old fuse for a new one will usually solve the issue. You can refer to your owner's manual or check the fuse panels for a diagram to identify the fuse that needs replacement. If the screen appears in black and white, there may be a weak connection, possibly due to a loose cable or a frayed wire near the ground. If the screen is entirely black, it could be because the cable was mistakenly plugged into the aux port instead of the video feed, which sometimes happens during maintenance. If there's no signal at all, the system may need to be reset. When dealing with a blurry or distorted image, the lens may need cleaning with a microfiber cloth. Occasionally, the camera may need to be replaced if it stops working.

Make sure to inspect the camera on your GMC Acadia if the backup camera is not functioning properly to see if there is any damage.

Every time I get in the car, I notice the scent of burning wires. After visiting the dealer three times, they finally replaced the wiring. Initially, they claimed they couldn't find any issues. On the second visit, they changed the wiring harness. On the third visit, they swapped out the camera. Yet, the problem persists.
