If the acceleration of your Jaguar XF is accompanied by noise, a common reason could be a hydraulic lift in the valve train that is stuck or out of sync with the other valves, resulting in a distinct clicking sound. This issue is usually due to varnish buildup and sometimes low oil pressure. Adding a specific additive to the oil may solve the problem, but in some cases, a replacement may be needed. Another noise that may occur when pressing the gas pedal is piston pin noise, caused by insufficient lubrication resulting in a double knocking sound due to excessive clearance between the pin and piston.

If you hear noise when accelerating in your Jaguar XF, it may be due to a hydraulic lift in the valve train getting stuck or a loose timing chain.
