If you notice that all the brake lights on your 2012 Kia Sorento aren't functioning, it might indicate a faulty brake light switch. If some of them are still operational, then it could be due to a blown fuse or burnt-out bulbs. Certain vehicles share the same lights for both braking and turn signaling, so refer to your owner's manual to determine this for your vehicle. If this is the case, a malfunctioning turn signal switch could be the issue if your third brake light is working, but the others are not. The turn signal switch, when activated, may interrupt the brake light signal on the same side from working correctly. A damaged wire leading to or from the switch could also be responsible for the lack of brake light function. In this scenario, the third brake light remains steady and does not flash with the turn signals, which means that a defective turn signal switch would not affect its illumination.
